  • 2018 Ri3D Robot

    Keith

    created with Ri3D Team Ontario

Following the assembly of a competitive team of individuals, a robot was built in 72 hours to demonstrate to FIRST Robotics Competition teams a design of a competitive robot for the 2018 competition.

I worked on programming the robot in Java, and the design of the intake system. See more at http://ri3dontario.ca/robot.

  • Toilet Paper Dispenser

    Toilet Paper Dispenser

a project in MTE 100 and GENE 121

This was the final project for these classes. The dispenser dispenses an equivalent number of layers as the number of claps the recipient provides. The dispenser unrolls, folds, and then dispenses the toilet paper. The unit was then incased in white foam board.

  • Line Follower & Sound Player

    RoboSymphony

a team in UWaterloo Robotics Team's First-Year Design Project

This team's goal was to develop a robot which would be able to track a line, while playing sounds based on the intensity of a grayscale line, at a certain BPM. I aided in the mechanical and software design of the robot, in a team of 5.

  • TRON Days

    Team Dinoco

    a project in MTE 100, GENE 121, CHE 102, MATH 115 & MATH 116

Although this involved seperate programming, math, and chemistry tasks, the main project was to build a robot capable of of placing small, thin, bone-like objects at 3 different vertical levels and 3 different horizontal locations. Our robot accomplished this with 2 DoF and a wrist. It rotated on its base, with a double jointed arm to lift objects to their locations.

  • SHAD Project

    Cultivated Foods Co.

    created at SHAD Saskatchewan 2017

Project: reduce the carbon footprint of humans

Our idea is to source lentils from farmers, hiring a manufacturing facility to produce 3 variants of them. We prototyped and tried these variants. Lentils are some of the most energy efficient plants to grow. They are very healthy, and could be sold at chip bag prices, for the same or more quantity.

  • SHAD Tent

    Tent

    created at SHAD Saskatchewan 2017

In a group, a low cost tent was created to contain warmth during the night. Black, garbage bag-like material was placed on top of an 'X' structure created by non-hollow pool noodles, which were held together by piercing bamboo rods through them. Front flaps were pinned to the ground using bamboo.

  • SHAD Chair

    Chair

    created at SHAD Saskatchewan 2017

    • A design project to create a low cost chair for disaster relief.

In a group, created a double person chair, where individuals sat back-to-back (photo coming soon). The base was 3 sheets of cardboard that interlocked, in an asterisk pattern. A 4th sheet was placed on top and folded to create a lower-back rest and seat.

  • 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition Robot

    The Mann

    created with Team 781

    • Designed electrical system layout
      • Minimized wire runs
      • Maximized ease of troubleshooting with accessible components
    • Created complete BoM from receipts
    • Designed game piece acquisition and deployment for large plastic gears
      • Able to function in both passive (Pilot responsible for lifting gear with peg) and active (robot deploys gear onto peg) modes
    • Robot finished in top 1/3rd of Ontario teams after playing the top teams very often

I was also the Pilot, a human player controlling the strategic scoring of the large pastic gears. Although I was in a confined space with another Pilot, I made strategic decisions and established a leadership role in only a few seconds. These decisions regarded order of retrieval of game pieces, involved communication in loud environments and required sub-one second reactions.

  • 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition Robot

    Duncan

    created with Team 781

    • Reduced weight after determining that structure was redundant, experimentally
    • Designed electrical system layout
      • Minimized wire runs
      • Maximized ease of troubleshooting with accessible components
    • Finished website experimentation

I was also the Human Player. I controlled the entry of dodgeballs onto the field, and would have to anticipate need and place them exactly where they needed to go.

  • 2015 FIRST Robotics Competition Robot

    LC

    created with Team 781

    • Used MySQL and similar tools to migrate data from a broken Joomla 2 installation to a fresh Joomla 3 CMS
    • Reorganized website content and navigation to feature frequently accessed pages using Google Analytics
    • Pair programmed the motion controlled aspects of the robot

  • 2014 FIRST Robotics Competition Robot

    Moose

    created with Team 781

    • Machined many components
    • Collected data for scouting and helped determine parameters for pick list
